Settings for Windows 2000
Making a new Maui Net connection in Dial-Up Networking for Windows 2000.
- Right-click the My Network Places icon.
- Left-click on Properties.
- Double-click the Make New Connection icon.
- The Network Connection Wizard window will appear.
- Click Next.
- Choose Dial-up to the Internet.
- Click Next.
- Choose I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a
local area network (LAN).
- Click Next.
- Choose I connect through a phone line and a modem.
- Click Next.
- Uncheck Use area code and dialing rules. Enter Maui: 270-1663
Oahu: 791-1663
Big Island: 930-1663
Kauai: 240-1664
Lanai: 568-1663
Molokai: 660-1663
in Telephone number.
- Click Next.
- In Username, type your username in lowercase letters.
- In Password, enter your password. (It will appear as asterisks.)
- Click Next.
- Enter Maui Net for Connection name:
- Click Next.
- Choose No.
- Click Next.
- Uncheck To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish.
- Click Finish.
Configuring Dial-up Networking for Windows 2000.
- Right-click the My Network Places icon.
- Left-click on Properties.
- Right-click your Maui Net connection.
- Left-click on Properties.
- On the General tab, remove the check in front of Use dialing rules.
- Click on the Options tab.
- Make sure there is a check in front of Display progress while connecting and
Prompt for name and password, certificate, etc. You may change the Redialing
options to suit your preferences.
- Click on the Security tab.
- Under Security options make sure Typical recommended settings is chosen and
the box below Validate my identity as follows: says Allow unsecured password.
- Click on the Networking tab.
- Type of dial-up server I am calling: is PPP, Windows 95/98/NT 4/2000,
Internet. There should be a check in front of Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and Client
for Microsoft Networks.
- Click OK.
Double-click your Maui Net connection. A window should appear prompting for your username
and password. Enter your username. Enter
your password. It will appear as asterisks(*). Click the "Save Password" box if you want
the computer to remember it for you. Click Dial. The username and password will NOT
save until you have connected at least one time.
To create a shortcut to this connection on your desktop, right-lick on your Maui Net icon,
left-click on Create Shortcut. When Windows says "Cannot create a shortcut here...",
click Yes.
Now on the Desktop you will have a new icon titled Shortcut to Maui Net. From now on
you will be able to double-click on that icon and it will connect you directly to Maui Net.
