Common Browser Problems
Here are a few common problems that the user may encounter when cruising
the internet. These error messages generally stem from entering the address incorrectly,
to a lack of connection, to trouble with the application itself.
"The server doesn't have a DNS entry..."
Check to see that the address (i.e. http://www.maui.net/help) is typed in correctly.
Also, make sure that the computer is indeed connected to the Internet.
"Netscape caused a General Protection Fault"
This problem can usually be solved by re-installing Netscape or Internet Explorer.
Although the problem may be caused by a conflict with another program.
"Error (number)...Forbidden, Permission Denied, File Not On Server, File
Not Found, etc."
Forbidden errors indicated that you do not have permission to view the site. For
example, password protected sites.
Permission Denied Same as above, but you are not in the correct "group"
to view this page. Either that or the web designer disable the permissions to lock out the
website owner.
File Not Found on Server Indicates that the site was taken down or that the link is
expired.
